Hakone, Japan - 2004

The 4th HFSP Awardees Meeting was held in Hakone, Japan from May 15 -18, 2004

 

The Hakone meeting was held at the Hakone Prince Hotel on the banks of Lake Ashi. All Long-Term Fellows, Young Investigators and Career Development Award holders were invited, as well as Program Grants awardees awarded in 2001. In addition, some former grant awardees and fellows located in Japan attended the meeting. In all there were 199 scientific presentations as talks or posters and a total of 243 registered participants.

The year 2004 was also the 15th anniversary of the HFSP. This was marked by a ceremony and reception on May 15th, including an address by Former Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone  and a lecture by Nobel Prize Winner Christiane Nusslein-Volhard (Director of the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, Tuebingen).
