HFSP is saddened by the news of the passing of former Prime Minister of Japan Yasuhiro Nakasone on 29 November 2019 at the age of 101. Mr. Nakasone’s vision led to the founding of the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO) 30 years ago in 1989. He brought together leaders of thought within the scientific community preparing the ground for a unique voluntary collaboration of the G7 Nations, later drawing in other countries. His vision has resulted in 30 years of outstanding scientific contributions supported by HFSP.
