More than 200 HFSP awardees, alumni, committee members, local dignitaries, and students participated in the 23rd HFSP Awardees Meeting at the National Academy of Sciences, in Washington DC, USA.
41 talks, 26 poster teaser talks, and a poster session composed a three-day program that conveyed the best basic life science research topics and trends.
2024 marks the 35th anniversary of HFSP and to celebrate it, this Annual Awardees Meeting program accommodated the special session "Frontier Life Science in the USA", with a panel of scientific talks from USA HFSP Awardees and a High-Level panel discussion focused on Multilateral Scientific Collaboration and the role of Basic Discovery Life Science as a Key Engine of Innovation in the 21st Century.

The special session ended with a commemorative cocktail reception to celebrate the 35th anniversary of HFSP.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the HFSP Nakasone Award Keynote Lecture, "The Glymphatic System" by Maiken Nedergaard, the 2024 Nakasone Laureate.

The three-day meeting at Washington DC was completed with an intense social program, that provided different opportunities for HFSP community to exchange and inspire. The kicking-off started on Sunday evening with a welcome cocktail at the lobby of the JW Marriot Hotel. On Tuesday, 18 June, a meet and greet hosted by the National Academy of Sciences celebrated the HFSPO’s 35th Anniversary with distinguished guests, HFSPO Awardees and Alumni from the international HFSPO community. The last day of the event included a convivial breakfast at the JW Marriot Hotel and a dinner at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, that opened the museum exhibitions to our HFSP community during a welcome cocktail followed by the Conference Dinner.
