Crossref applies a Grant Linking System that allows funders to create unique links to data. It is of mutual benefit for the researchers to highlight their research work and for funders to have a reliable means of assessing research outcomes.
Amongst other funders, HFSPO supports the use of the DOI, as it is also a persistent identifier increasing the findability of a project in the era of Open Science by committing to FAIR standards. Being more visible is important for any researcher.
HFSP has assigned first Crossref DOI’s to the 2022 and 2023 Research Grants and will successively continue to expand to the Fellowship program and past award cycles. Assigning a unique grant ID is a key component in the new HFSPO Strategy 2024 – 2026 providing a reusable scientific archive that increases the programs reach and inclusivity.
HFSP funded researchers are encouraged to refer to the DOI in preprints, publications and supplementary materials.
