HFSPO and NIH Leadership Meet to Reinforce Shared Commitment to Frontier Science

The conversation centered on the continued importance of basic science in driving transformative innovation.

Earlier this month, at a high-level meeting in Washington, D.C., USA, HFSPO Secretary-General Professor Pavel Kabat met for the first time with Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, Director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). The discussion reflected the strong and ongoing partnership between NIH and HFSPO, built on a shared mission to support high-impact, curiosity-driven research.

The conversation reaffirmed both institutions’ long-standing dedication to basic discovery science as a cornerstone of transformative innovation. Both leaders emphasized the importance of international scientific cooperation and the need to sustain support for frontier life science in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The meeting also highlighted opportunities for continued alignment and exchange between NIH and HFSPO, reinforcing the global nature of this scientific enterprise and the vital role of the United States within it.
